Asking your client to be your friend on FaceBook is the first step to building out your community. How do you ask them to connect?
1) Start by asking in person. "Are you on FaceBook?" "Oh good, I'll look you up later and connect to you." Better yet, pull out your iPhone and connect to them right there on the spot!
2) Look them up on FaceBook and invite them. If they are a regular customer, just send them an invite to connect. If you don't see them enough, personalize the invite and make it easy for them to accept your connection.
3) Have a picture taken of you and your client, tell them you are going to post it on FaceBook tonight (on your Business Page) and ask them to tag themselves. All you have to do is click on their name and invite them to connect, if you are in a picture together accepting your friendship is natural.
Whatever you do, you must build your community one connection at a time!
