Top Inflatable Hot Tubs Reviewed

portable hot tub reviewsThere’s nothing quite like pampering yourself in a hot tub, surrounded by friends, glass of wine in hand.

Hot tubs are a fun way to spend a lazy afternoon, connect with the people you know, and unwind. But while you might have relaxation on your mind, hot tub manufacturers are embroiled in a fierce battle with each other to win your hard-earned dollars.

In this review, we’re going to take a look at some of the best inflatable portable spas that money can buy. Each hot tub in this review is trying to appeal to a particular person and eke out a market advantage for itself.

So before jumping in and buying (if you’ll excuse the pun), it’s wise to make an informed choice on which tub to buy.

Best Inflatable Hot Tubs

1. Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub

The Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub

The Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub was designed with convenience in mind. The company provides instructional videos on set up from its website, allowing customers to follow along in their own time — no need to consult annoying or complicated manuals. What’s more, if you manage to follow the instruction correctly (which is surprisingly easy), you can have the Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub set up and fill with water in about 45 minutes, no tools required. The SaluSpa will then need to sit for around 24 hours (depending on the ambient temperature), to heat the water to the recommended 104 degrees F, but you can always hop in earlier if you’re feeling brave.

Another advantage of the SaluSpa is that it can run on a single 110 outlet, negating the need to run multiple power lines back and forth to your home or a nearby shed. It’s smaller and lighter weight than a regular hot tub, it runs quietly, and it’s easy to drain and refill.

There are some downsides, though. For one, the tub doesn’t have any jets, only bubbles, so if you were expecting a massage, you’re going to be sorely disappointed. The other issue has to do with the SaluSpa’s operating temperature. Coleman has made it so that the pump stops running when the water temperature falls below about 40 degrees. They did this to prevent ice from entering the motor in cold weather, ruining the mechanism. But the result is that you can’t run it in cold conditions (without somehow knocking out the temperature sensor), making it into more of a warm-weather tub.

The Coleman SaluSpa, therefore, is a great introductory blow up hot tub, thanks to the ease with which it can be set up and the convenient, intuitive control panel. It is not, however, a hot tub for enjoying warmth in the winter months, thanks to the pump issue.

2. Intex Pure Spa 6-Person Inflatable Portable Heated Bubble Hot Tub

 Intex Pure Spa review

The Intex Pure Spa 6-Person Inflatable Hot Tub

When Intex was developing the Pure Spa 6-Person inflatable hot tub, they had convenience in mind. Perhaps the most impressive feature of the tub is its ability to self-inflate, providing an instant, sturdy container for hundreds of gallons of water. The Pure Spa comes with a handy cover for keeping the heat in, and a locking system to prevent children from getting into the hot tub unattended – a nice safety feature.

Intex, however, needs to focus more on quality control. Although the Pure Spa is a great hot tub with bubble jets and easy-to-replace filter cartridges, there is a tendency for air to leak out of the seams which connect the main plastic body of the tub to the white lip section around the rim. Air can begin oozing out and needs to be replaced manually to prevent water from cascading out all over your decking, patio or lawn.

The Intex Pure Spa 6-Person Inflatable Portable Heated Bubble Hot Tub is undoubtedly one of the most striking and beautiful hot tubs on the market right now. With its cream headrests and nautical blue main body, this tub will look good just about anywhere, despite being inflatable. The accompanying pump is efficient, taking just 30 minutes to inflate the tub. And it is adept at retaining water, with most users only having to top it up every month or so, keeping water bills down.

So who is the Intex Pure Spa for? The target audience for this tub is highly discerning people who want a premium hot tub experience at an affordable price. Intex has done a miraculous job creating a spa that is both desirable and works as intended. Both long-term users and people new to hot tubs love it.

3. SaluSpa Palm Springs AirJet Inflatable 6-Person Hot Tub

SaluSpa Palm Springs AirJet review

The SaluSpa Palm Springs AirJet Inflatable Hot Tub

The people behind the SaluSpa Palm Springs Inflatable 6-person hot tub are keen to convince their customers that their tub is both strong, comfortable and durable. The Palm Springs AirJet uses a kind of leatheroid puncture-resistant material made from three-ply material which the company claims offers extra strength and durability. The walls are of I-beam construction which prevents buckling as people get in and out, making the Palm Springs a genuine competitor to rigid, non-inflatable varieties.

What about comfort? Although the bottom of the SaluSpa Palm Springs AirJet Inflatable 6-Person Hot Tub isn’t inflatable, it is covered in a soft, foam material which makes sitting on it surprisingly plush. Many people who have used the tub have found that they don’t need to buy separate hot tub cushions at additional cost.

There are, however, space issues. While the tub claims to fit six people, in reality, it’s more like four. The tub could easily fit six children, but getting six full-size adults in here would be difficult unless they were all pretty close.

There’s also a potential issue regarding temperature regulation. Temperatures, according to some users, can vary over time without explanation, and fiddling with the control panel doesn’t appear to help.

So, in summary, the SaluSpa Palms Springs is a hot tub made for people who want something durable and attractive. However, it may not be as spacious as you might expect.

4. Bestway 54155E Hawaii Air Jet Inflatable Outdoor Spa

bestway 54155E review

The Bestway 54155E Hawaii Air Jet Inflatable Outdoor Spa

As any long-time hot tub owner knows, draining a tub can be an issue. Most manufacturers supply a drain tube, allowing users to run a pipe to a nearby drain, getting rid of the water without fuss. But although Bestway used to offer this on their models, as of the introduction of the 54155E Hawaii Air Jet Inflatable Spa, they’ve stopped. Why?

The good news is that assembly of the 54155E is a breeze. Setup takes less than 40 minutes, you don’t need any tools, and the tub will reach its top temperature of 104 degrees F within 12 hours, usually less.

Perhaps the most exciting feature of the 54155E is the square shape. Being square, the tub offers more space than round varieties and has a more classic look for those who like that sort of thing. There’s a power saving system which can automatically start and stop the heating system, and leatheroid cover which locks into place, creating an insulating air chamber beneath to keep heat in and your energy bills down.

What about cold weather performance? The good news is that the 54155E appears to work magnificently in cold weather. There may be a slight loss heat when running bubbles in low temperatures (or with extended use), but this is a minor issue. Bubbles can be switched off temporarily, allowing the heating unit to catch up.

As a practical hot tub, the Bestway 54155E is for people who want to be able to set up their tub wherever and whenever they like. Its square design maximises space, allowing you to fit more people in this tub than in similarly-priced competitor products.

5. Goplus 4-6 Person Outdoor Spa Inflatable Hot Tub

 Goplus Outdoor Spa review

The Goplus Outdoor Spa Inflatable Hot Tub

The Goplus 4-6 Personal Outdoor spa is stylish. The exterior of the inflatable jacuzzi is clad in a kind of rattan-style material, giving it a premium look. Goplus’s offering comes with easy-to-replace filter cartridges, 360-degree bubble jets, and a cover for heat preservation.

Goplus is a compact hot tub, smaller than many of the others in this review. It claims space for up to six people, but that is highly optimistic – it’s more like four. With that said, it is easy to set up and, thanks to its excellent design, complements patios perfectly. Temperature maintenance is good. The tub can keep you warm at 102 F indefinitely, even with the bubbles turned on.

Speaking of bubbles, the Goplus supplies them at high power without too much noise.

The downsides are mostly related to the lack of support and information for the product. Although replacing the filters is easy, there isn’t, as yet, much guidance for customers on which they should choose. Goplus doesn’t provide any useful information on things like power-draw for people who might want to know how much their tub is going to cost them to keep running.

So, in summary, this is a tub for people who want to entertain a small number of guests and who don’t want their hot tub cramping their style.
